Barbequing with the Kids
Grilling Outside with the Kids
Summertime is a great time to head outside with your kids. For most people, it is a time of year where they are firing up the grill and having some great meals outside with the ones that they love. There are many ways that you can include your children when you are cooking outdoors and you should definitely check out some ways that you can have your kids help you create some great grilled meals. This is a great time to get the family together and to see everyone bond. Check out and see some ideas for how you can include your children when you are grilling some great summer meals.
- Using the Unconventional Grill
One of the most fun activities that you can do with your kids outside is to use a fire pit to make your food. Kids love to cook their own food, and it is even better when it is cooked over an open flame. Find a great variety of hot dogs that your children can grill, let them pick the one that they want out and let them put it over the flame. Of course, you always want to supervise, but they will feel like they have cooked their own meal and they will be dying to eat it.

- Using the Regular Grill
You really can’t have a 5 year old flipping burgers, but you can allow them to help. Create some great jobs for your children while you are doing the hard work. Let them set the table, or create a great plate of vegetables. There are a lot of little things that they can help with to set up dinner while you are cooking the meat, see how you can include them and get them grilling outside with you. Have a look at this Stainless Steel Natural Gas Grill.
It is so important to spend quality family time together and for a lot of people, they get to do that during meals and that is about it. If you are finding that it is harder to spend time with your children, include them in your dinner plans and also let them help you cook. This is a great way to get them involved and to be able to spend some quality time with them. They will love being engaged in an activity and will be willing to help you if they know that they are making a difference as to dinner and what is being served.

I can attest to kids loving to cook their own food over a fire pit. Of course it’s always dad who has to remove the steaming hot food from their roasting sticks
I know exactly what you mean, Kurt. Well it’s better that we have burnt fingers than them!
It’s nice to see the look of accomplishment on their face though when you tell them it’s done cooking.

Does anyone have a recommendation for hot dogs that are especially good over an open fire? This has inspired me to try something new!
keep in mind that if you have kids, try to cook outside in a pit as much as possible. it will give kids something to remember and when they grow up they’ll have fond memories of cooking over the fire.
Ted,
While I don’t disagree with what you said, I think that they can also have good memories from remember their parents BBQing on the grill. I know I have the best memories smelling the steak my dad was grilling out on the porch when I was a kid.
