RE: General Gardening
Hey Dan, I have a question for you.
What is a generally good size of a garden. I'd just like to know a nice standard size to start with. I wouldn't say I'm a beginner as I used to help my mom with her garden so I have an idea of whats involved, but not sure on the dimensions for one I'm starting. Any tips? -Mark |

RE: General Gardening
Hi Mark
It really does depend how much time you are going to be able to spend on it. If you are very busy do not attempt to create a big garden as they take a fair bit of upkeep. Maybe set off with a small area to grass seed and plant some borders at each side. That way apart from mowing the grass that should take care of itself you will just need to look after your plants. Dimension are hard to say depending on what area you have available. RE: General Gardening
Hi Mark
Also when I started my garden I did not plant any fruit or vegetables but stuck to just flowers & plants until I learnt the ropes a bit which I am really glad I did. . Then I cornered off a small are and set about my veggie plot. You probably know a lot more than I did if you have been helping your mum with her garden. Hope it goes well FP |

RE: General Gardening
Thanks for the tips, I didn't know it was a good idea to start off with flowers before plants and veggies.
I have some help from gardening relatives so i grow things like pumpkins, cucumbers and squash. I even have a mint bush in my garden! |

Yes, actually the first few gardens I started I began with flowers. It's a great way to learn the ropes of planting and caring for your greenery. Plus flowers are pretty easy to manage most of the time. |
