Winter vegetables
Hello there, the time of year has come again to get harvesting the apples and pears, pulling up potatos and carrots and cutting back, digging up and composting the rest. Over the winter the soil needs to rest so now is the time for the last dig before the frost does its jobs of breaking down the soil. There is still time left for planting, garlic grows best in winter as it needs the sub zero temperature to produce strong chemicals and larger bulbs. By planting now you can harvest in may just in time to plant all of your veg for the next season. There are also many winter lettuces and cabbages that can be grown have a look at some seed catalogues and find some suitable seeds and get growing :0)
We have 2 websites for you to visit with lots of great information for you to look at http://www.danthegardener.co.uk and http://www.danthegardener.com |
